You also need to promote your business in a disciplined and professional way. You cannot sit back and wait for business to come to you. You need to discipline yourself to promote, systematically, your business each week. You need to convey a professional trustworthy image of your home business. That means no photos of you in your pajamas on your business website, unless you're running a sleepwear business.

You also need to discipline yourself to think creatively if you want to make money from your home based business. Do not implement the same promotions all the time. Think of all the unique things about your product or service. Now try to market your business in a new way to highlight the best features of your product or service. Don't just rely on simple flyers door-to-door or a web classified ad. Do something more daring. Get out on the street there a couple days a month and get the word out about your business in your geographic area. Making money from a home based business means getting out of your home to see how the real world is operating.

Finally, you need to discipline yourself to persevere. This is especially true in the early stages of your business. You won't make money from a home based business if you don't learn perseverance. In the beginning months, the lack of sales that you may experience may discourage you. Customer complaints that may come may discourage you. Not getting the supplies you need, in time, to create your home business product may discourage you. When discouragements come, you have to remember you're in this for the long haul. You have to persevere.
